Here we have a fascinating range of reports on the Hindu College from the General Committee of Public Instruction which was the official body overseeing the state of education in Bengal Presidency during the East India Company’s rule, as well as a number of annual reports of the College. From the latter half of the nineteenth century we have similar reports published by the department of Education, government of Bengal. There are also reports on the scholarship examinations taken by the students of the Hindu College, as well as an important compendium of documents related to the Government takeover of the institution in 1854, when it was renamed as Presidency College, reports on the Eden Hindu Hostel, and other select reports on education in the Bengal Presidency where the College has been referred to.
